Diver numbers reach record levels in New Zealand

2018 has seen the growth of diving in New Zealand to levels never reached before.
Auckland Diving, which consists of two clubs that operate under one trust (Diving Waitakere and North Harbour Diving), saw the biggest increase with numbers reaching over 400 across their squads and programmes. Their growth is largely due to the very successful Talent ID programme implemented three years ago, resulting in increased membership of divers at all levels. Their retention levels have also been high with increased satisfaction from divers and parents on the quality of coaching and programmes offered by the clubs.
Waikato Diving was out of action for a few months while their pool facilities in Hamilton were being upgraded. Wellington Diving Club and Diving Otakou have also seen steady increases in their membership numbers and are expected to grow further in 2019.
